| | This is a locally owned Pizzaria. Well known...been around since the mid 1960's. The family that own it are great people and are commited to excellent customer service. The place needs some new tables and chairs in the back room, but we come here for the awesome extra krispy pizza and nachos. “Village Inn a fun place to go” Village Inn is a fun, casual, and relaxing place to go. This locally owned establishment cares about its customers. They are so friendly and will go the extra mile for you. My Dad had a Birhtday Party here and although we did not make a reservation they had plenty of room for the 25 or so people who came. You order your food up front and pick it up as well. However, the Village Inn Staff delivered our food, refilled drinks for us and checked in on us quite alot. We forgot the knive for the cake and they cut it for us. You can tell it is family owned in the sense that there need to be upgrades done in the dining areas. However, this family friendly place with a few blemishes remains one the best in the community. They often hold fundraisers for non-profit groups as well. This review is the subjective opinion of a TripAdvisor member and not of TripAdvisor LLC. |
User Rating: 5 out of 5 stars I have always been a big fan of Village Inn; but since the new owners took over, everything seems so much better. The food tastes better, the prices are great, the atmosphere has perked up, and everyone is so very friendly!
My kids have always been such picky, picky pizza eaters (I call them my 'pizza snobs')and are VERY choosy about pizza. Everytime we visit V.I. there are NO leftovers (generally, they want to order more!). And of course, they love all the games!
I have to say kudos to the staff. They always make us feel welcome, bring us our food (even though we are supposed to go to front to get it), chat with us and always tell us goodbye and thanks for coming.

“Great Service and Food”
Champaign
Feb 2, 2008
Village Inn has been around since the 60's. Over the years it has had its ups and downs. Somebody bought it a year or so ago. This place has really improved. We visit a couple times a month. By far, the best is the Krispy Crust Village Inn Pizza Special. It is very thin dough with lots of toppings-they are not skimpy. We also have had the Italian Beef Sandwich and the Nachos are also good. The service and food is excellent. They have a large room in back and is a great place to watch Illinois Basketball on the Big Ten Network. Go Illini!
The old fashioned fireplace in the main dining room is very nice to have in the winter. They need new chairs in the back room instead of some benches. I hope they consider delivery sometime.

Simply The Best Privately Owned Pizza Place in Champaign
from Insiders pages.com posted on 12/29/07.
If you want a place where the kids will be happy, from age 0 to 99, this is the spot. Nothing about the place is offensive. They have a few different types of beer on tap and more in bottles but this isn't a place people go to get drunk as far as I can tell.
We usually go for special occasions, like my husband's surprise 40 birthday 8 years ago, to meet my best friends new boyfriend and his kids a few months ago.
I noticed the upgrades when the new owner's took over, including the bathroom, which looks more restaurant and less bar than it used to... Still the best all around place for pizza, beer, and nachos.
Always look forward to a trip to V I.!!!

We went in actually to watch the Illini play on the Big Ten Network. Had a great pizza and a few beers. This is not your National Chain Restaurant, rather locally owned. Great place to watch the Illini on the "Big" Screen. Very friendly staff who also enjoy cheering the Illini to victory.

"My favorite place is Villa Pizza. Villa in Italian means Village. I like Village Inn because their pizza has excellent flavor. My favorite kind is a combo pizza. It has delicious cheese, mouth watering sausage and zesty pepperoni. Most of the time I get it with breadsticks and marinara sauce."- N Thope Grade 4 Holy Cross School, Champaign

Outstanding! From Insider Pages

Recently I have been so sick of chain pizza places! So, I went into Village Inn and was blown away! I LOVED the family atmosphere! They have a separate area where a retirement party was going on and I think it's just the perfect place for a fun event like that! I can't wait to go w/a group of friends for Illini games! In their back room they have a big screen TV, games for my kids, and the perfect environment for sporting events! I would definitely recommend the salad, nachos, thin crust pizza, and Italian Beef! The prices were A LOT cheaper and better quality and service than other pizza places! Two thumbs up!!!

excellent thin crust pizza From Insider Pages

I took my son's baseball team there last night and they had a great time. The staff was very nice to a loud group. To my surprise, the parents also had a great time. They have lots of seating and games for the kids to play while we waited for our pizza and sandwiches. Several of us had the italian beef-we would recommend that as well as the steak sandwiches.

Pleasantly Surprised From Insider Pages

I went there recently after giving up on the place about two years ago. To my surprise, it was painted, brighter, and had much friendlier service. I then learned it was under new ownership. The Italian beef was still great and the pizza my family and I had was delicious (they were not skimpy on the toppings at all!). I will not hesitate to go there in the future. I think my family and I found our new spot.

I recently visited Village Inn Pizza Parlor and enjoyed my visit. It has a family atmosphere and I love the fireplace in the center of the dining area. The pizza was great and not too expensive.
